Hinterland Community Band Association (HCB)
and
Mudgeeraba Music Centre (MMC)
The Hinterland Community Band, Mudgeeraba – “A band of the community for the community” – was formed in October 1995 by Vic Knowles, retired former Director of Music, Royal Australian Navy. It became an Incorporated Association, Qld in August 1996.
It is a NOT-FOR-PROFIT, INCORPORATED Association
It is NON-PARTISAN and NON-SECTARIAN
It provides practising musicians with an Association where they can:
- Maintain their expertise
- Rehearse with other talented Musicians
- Extend their musical knowledge and skills
- Provide music for Community Events
The HCB Association currently comprises a membership of approximately 40 musicians with a wide range of skills and ages, volunteers from all areas of the Gold Coast, who rehearse then perform for the community at a wide range of venues and settings.
Based in Mudgeeraba, in the foothills of the Gold Coast Hinterland, the Hinterland Community Band – Mudgeeraba Inc. (HCB) became the sole leaseholder of the Mudgeeraba Music Centre (MMC) when the building was officially opened on 3rd May 2009.
The aim of constructing a Music Centre in Mudgeeraba was to develop music and the performing arts in the immediate and surrounding community. As its sole leaseholder, it is the intention of HCB, by means of its own operations and management, to support that aim.
The MMC, located at the corner of Somerset Drive and Springbrook Road, has facilities available for hire to other community groups and members, with priority given to those who are developing their own music or performing arts, but also suitable for meetings, private tuition, yoga and gentle exercise classes.
