About the Bands

Hinterland Community Bands perform for general public, private and community events, in addition to promoting friendships and extending musical ability. The music styles included in their programs are varied: classical, big band, popular songs, religious hymns, military, Christmas carols, and songs from musical theatre.

There are two main bands with smaller wind, brass or jazz ensembles:

The Hinterland Concert Band – These member musicians range from talented young students to very experienced senior members, who regularly attend rehearsals with other musicians to extend their musical knowledge and skills then provide music within the local community. Their performances at local civic functions include Australia Day, ANZAC DAY and Remembrance Day ceremonies in addition to various concerts and community events. Players of percussion, brass or wind instruments who can read music and may be considering joining the band are welcome to visit rehearsal to ascertain suitability, interest and commitment.

The Hint of Swing – 18-Piece Big Band – is comprised of very experienced musicians who provide a wide range of music – jazz, shows, swing, popular – for numerous venues on the Gold Coast. This band is the longest running Big Band on the Gold Coast and is very popular with audiences. They are available to perform for Functions, Dances, Balls, Weddings, Dinner Parties or any event – no matter the size.

All rehearsals are at the Mudgeeraba Music Centre, on the corner of Somerset Drive and Springbrook Road.
